Job description

SCHEDULE: 40 hours, Mon-Fri, 11:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.

Pays $21.40 per hour DOE, plus $2.00 shift differential pay for hours worked between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.

Location: 41 New Chardon Street, Boston, MA

Summary of the Position:

The Awake Overnight Residential Counselor is responsible for the overall safety of tenants at the 34 New Chardon Street residence, under the Behavioral Health Division of Pine Street Inn. This program provides permanent housing to formerly homeless women using a Housing First/Stabilization model. The program serves women from diverse backgrounds, circumstances, and age groups. The mission is to provide trauma-informed, gender-sensitive, and gender-specific support services to help tenants heal, reintegrate into the community, and break the cycle of homelessness. The counselor will assist tenants with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills during the early morning hours, and maintain a respectful environment.

Requirements

Education/Training:

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Some basic prior human services training

Preferred:

  • Advanced training in human services
  • Experience with a Housing First/Stabilization Model

Knowledge/Experience:

Required:

  • At least one (1) year of experience working with individuals with complex disabilities in a shelter, community residence, or inpatient setting
  • Experience maintaining a safe environment for clients
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation and consumer empowerment concepts
  • Understanding of mental illness and dual diagnosis individuals
  • Experience working with dually diagnosed individuals
  • Experience assisting with ADL skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with a Housing First/Stabilization model
  • Experience working with homeless populations
  • Experience with dual diagnosis and untreated mental illness
