Job summary

Rite of Passage’s Southern California Treatment Program in Orange County is seeking Awake Night Staff to provide overnight safety and supervision for residential youth, while maintaining a professional and supportive environment.

You will document behaviors, assist with educational and recreational activities, and coordinate with other departments to meet each youth’s treatment plan, with opportunities for growth and a rewarding career.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate empathy, patience, respect and a genuine desire to work with troubled teens.
• Must be at least 21 years old and pass background checks and health screenings.
• Possess a valid State Driver’s License with a clean record for the past three years.
• Relevant life experience in child welfare, mental health, or juvenile justice.
• Bachelor’s degree or a qualifying credential in a related field or equivalent experience.

Pay: Entry rate starting at $20.00 per hour; $500.00 Sign-On Bonus for Full-Time Direct Care position paid out at 6 Months; $1,000 Bonus after successful completion of Essential Skills Training within the first 90 Days!

Perks and Benefits: You will be eligible for Medical insurance on the first of the month following 60 days of full-time employment. What you will do: You will provide overnight safety and around-the-clock supervision for our residential youth and promote an atmosphere that is professional and supportive. You will monitor and document their behaviors and actions, participate and assist with educational and recreational activities, and work in collaboration with other departments to establish and meet the goals of each youth’s treatment plan.

To be considered you must

• Demonstrate empathy, patience, respect, and a genuine desire to work with troubled teens
• Be at least 21 years old, pass a criminal background check, drug screening, physical exam, and TB test
• Possess a current State Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record for the past three years
• Have relevant life experience in child welfare, mental health, or juvenile justice, either as a mentor or caregiver
• Must possess one of the following qualifications: a Bachelor’s degree, a valid Child Development Teaching Permit, 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, Psychology, certification as an Alcohol or Drug Counselor, or one year of full-time experience in a group home, therapeutic program, or substance abuse treatment program.
