Job summary

Rite of Passage is seeking a Youth Care Professional for our Southern California Treatment Program in Tustin and Costa Mesa, CA. You will provide safe, around‑the‑clock supervision for residential youth and support a professional, nurturing environment that promotes growth and healing.

Ideal candidates are at least 21, pass background checks, and have life or professional experience in child welfare or mental health.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate empathy, patience, respect and a genuine desire to work with troubled teens.
• Be at least 21 years old and pass a criminal background check, drug screening, physical exam, and TB test.
• Possess a valid State Driver’s License with a clean driving record for the past three years.
• Have relevant life experience in child welfare, mental health, or juvenile justice.
• Must possess one of the following qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, Child Development Teaching Permit, 12 semester units in ECE/Adolescent Development/Psychology, Alcohol or Drug Counselor certification, or one year of full-time experience in a related setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with educational and recreational activities.
• Collaborate with other departments to meet goals of each youth’s treatment plan.

Pay: Entry rate starting at $23.00 per hour; $1,000 Bonus after successful completion of Essential Skills Training within the first 90 Days!

What you will do: You will provide safety and around-the-clock supervision for our residential youth and promote an atmosphere that is professional and supportive. You will monitor and document their behaviors and actions, participate and assist with educational and recreational activities, and work in collaboration with other departments to establish and meet the goals of each youth’s treatment plan.

To be considered you must: Demonstrate empathy, patience, respect, and a genuine desire to work with troubled teens ~ Be at least 21 years old, pass a criminal background check, drug screening, physical exam, and TB test ~ Possess a current State Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record for the past three years ~ Have relevant life experience in child welfare, mental health, or juvenile justice, either as a mentor or caregiver ~ Must possess one of the following qualifications: a Bachelor’s degree, a valid Child Development Teaching Permit, 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, Psychology, certification as an Alcohol or Drug Counselor, or one year of full-time experience in a group home, therapeutic program, or substance abuse treatment program.
