Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers in Nashville is seeking a full-time Associate Vice President of Transportation Design to lead the roadway design group, mentor staff, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure project delivery.

The role requires 15+ years in Transportation Design, a PE license in Tennessee, and proven ability to develop client relationships with TDOT and local agencies. You will collaborate with project managers, pursue new opportunities, and guide marketing efforts.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in Transportation Design.
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
• Tennessee PE license or ability to reciprocity.
• Experience leading and directing individuals or a team.
• Knowledge of AASHTO roadway design guidance.
• Experience with TDOT guidelines and local programs.
• Experience with MicroStation/Geopak and Open Roads Designer.
• Strong client relationships with TDOT, municipalities, and permitting agencies.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and budgets.
• Experience with billing and client invoicing.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with local and state governments, private clients, and community leaders.
• Direct and oversee transportation design projects through project managers.
• Oversee and mentor staff.
• Provide quality control on project delivery.
• Prepare proposals content and client agreements.
• Monitor budgets, tasks, and schedules with project managers.
• Lead department marketing efforts and proposals.
• Oversee hiring and performance management.
• Coordinate with sub-contractors and manage budgets.
• Participate in monthly client invoicing.
