The Sr. Product Manager works with business stakeholders to develop, maintain, and communicate the Product Vision and Product Roadmap for large/complex data products and solutions, potentially spanning multiple functions. They ensure customer needs are integrated into the product strategy by exploring the solution context and understanding customers. They guide work flow through the Agile Release Train backlog, ensuring work is well-prioritized and sequenced for continuous business value, and foster collaborative talent across functions within the agile framework.

The Sr. Product Manager aligns the product strategy and roadmap with stakeholders, business objectives, the broader enterprise data strategy, and budget. They act as a trusted advisor to executive-level business owners, communicating progress, challenges, and opportunities, and collaborate with solution architects, product owners, delivery teams, and technology partners to address architectural considerations and innovation within the data ecosystem. This role leads the Actuarial Value Stream for Data & Analytics and partners with various actuarial functions including pricing, reserving, data management, and reporting.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Owns the business strategy, content, and priorities for a highly complex product or solution, operating with broad latitude in a multifaceted environment.
  2. Collaborates with Business Owner/Initiative Owners and stakeholders to decompose initiatives into Agile Release Train work efforts.
  3. Develops and owns the Agile Program Vision, Backlog, and Program Increment (PI) Roadmap, communicating continuously to Portfolio and Team levels.
  4. Develops Benefit Hypotheses and acceptance criteria with stakeholders.
  5. Engages in Portfolio-level meetings, providing insights into budget parameters.
  6. Partners with system architects to prioritize architecture work aligned with the architectural runway and business priorities.
  7. Participates in Team-level PI ceremonies, providing business and user context.
  8. Prepares stakeholders to receive and utilize the product's value, including distribution channels and enablement.
  9. Manages the business strategy behind the product lifecycle, legal and compliance adherence, to increase value and mitigate risks.
  10. Collaborates with customer experience and support through the solution lifecycle.
  11. Prepares complex solution context for implementation and owns decision-making for ART-level backlog.
  12. Participates in release management and solution validation.
  13. Provides strategic insights to assist development teams in sizing.
  14. Supports the overall Product Management discipline within the extended team.

Reporting Relationship: Typically VP or above

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Embodies the Lean-Agile Mindset with experience coaching and inspiring Agile teams.
  • Deep technical and theoretical knowledge of the domain and solutions, with proven ability to deliver outcomes across business functions.
  • Strategic thinking with limited information, developing plans and roadmaps aligned with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prepare Solution Contexts and interact effectively at all levels.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and management skills.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred, in a related discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically 12+ years of related experience, preferably in complex insurance or finance solutions, influencing senior leadership.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and successful Agile/Design Thinking implementations.
  • Certifications such as SAFe PO/PM, CSPO, or PSPO preferred.
