Job summary

SompoRe invites an experienced AVP, Property Facultative Underwriter to lead underwriting in the U.S. Property Facultative portfolio across the Eastern and Midwest Regions. You’ll drive client relationships, manage brokers, and advance profitable growth within your region.

You will underwrite within guidelines, analyze risks, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver strong performance and tailored solutions for clients. Willingness to travel is required.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of Property Facultative experience in Broker Market and Direct
• Underwriting of individual risk and automatic portfolios; ARe/CPCU designations preferred
• Ability to perform detailed risk analysis and negotiate complex terms
• Excellent oral and written communication; strong organizational skills and deadlines
• Interacting and collaborating with stakeholders across levels of the organization
• Willingness to travel to support client relationships and objectives

• Underwrite within Property Facultative guidelines and support teammates in a two-headed underwriting approach

As an Assistant Vice President (AVP, Property Facultative Underwriter), you will support an assigned Region in the development, core client management, and underwriting in accordance with the overall strategic business plan (capacity, underwriting appetite, business planning for growth and renewal opportunities) for SompoRe’s U.S. Property Facultative business. You will build and manage relationships through direct opportunities and brokers in your assigned region, leveraging strategic thinking to deliver a strong pipeline of opportunities (individual risk and automatics) that supports profitable growth. You will operate within your authority level and established guidelines while partnering across functions to deliver strong performance. You have the opportunity to make a tangible impact on our business, contribute to our growth, and build strong industry relationships. What You’ll Be Doing

• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and direct clients in your assigned region to drive organic premium growth and establish SompoRe as a trusted partner.
• Underwrite within all Property Facultative guidelines and support other underwriters in our collaborative two-headed approach to underwriting.
• Achieve stated financial objectives for growth and profitability within the property facultative portfolio.
• Represent SompoRe’s capabilities through active engagement in on-site visits, industry conferences, and other networking opportunities.
• Perform risk analysis (exposure, aggregation, , and profitability) using internal models and market data.
• Participate in special projects that support corporate needs and objectives.

What You’ll Bring

• 5 to 7 years of Property Facultative experience Broker Market and Direct
• Demonstrated proficiency in individual risk and automatic underwriting. Industry designations such as ARe and/or CPCU are preferred.
• Proven ability to perform detailed risk analysis and effectively engage in complex negotiations.
• Exceptional oral and written communication abilities, coupled with strong organizational skills and the capacity to meet tight deadlines.
• Professional demeanor with a commitment to delivering outstanding client service and building long-term partnerships.
• Ability to interact and collaborate with stakeholders across various levels of the organization.
• Advanced knowledge of relevant software tools, including AI, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other applications.
• Willingness to travel as required to support client relationships and business objectives.

Salary Range: $165,000 – $220,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
