Job Description Summary

Our work is essential to helping Nationwide build future capability to serve customer needs. Keeping existing products relevant and marketable and building new products takes research, critical thinking, practicality and collaboration. If you enjoy gathering input and information and creating innovative solutions for customers, we want to know more about you!

As the AVP, you'll establish, sell and execute the strategic direction for the designated Life product line. You'll be responsible for product and strategy execution including product launches, product revisions and product innovations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Define and deliver product strategy, design, and development for the Life Product Line.
  2. Lead research, development, and competitive intelligence of product design strategies, maintaining knowledge of industry trends, business drivers, and consumer preferences.
  3. Develop and maintain sales report analysis; gather customer insights through networks of industry experts and distribution partners.
  4. Identify new market opportunities and drive innovation to differentiate products.
  5. Manage product development from conception to launch, ensuring operational readiness and profitability.
  6. Assist clients in understanding product options and work with Product Risk Committee for design and pricing approval.
  7. Participate in pricing, monitor product performance, and understand market needs.
  8. Collaborate with sales and finance to determine product design requirements.
  9. Lead product and service delivery, ensuring process efficiency and effectiveness.
  10. Analyze in-force business to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction.
  11. Manage resource plans and budgets for the product line.
  12. Lead a team of associates, fostering engagement and managing performance, development, and organizational planning.
  13. Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships:

Reports to VP.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate degree in business or related field; MBA preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: Insurance or professional designations like Chartered Financial Consultant, Chartered Life Underwriter, CPCU, actuarial designations (FSA, MAAA), etc.

Experience: 7-10 years in life insurance product/business development; demonstrated leadership.

Skills: Strong technical knowledge, relationship-building, influencing, communication, negotiation, strategic thinking, decision-making, and leadership capabilities.
