AVP, Principal Mobile Software Development Engineer

Role Summary/Purpose: The Assistant Vice President, Senior Android Engineer, enjoys working in a hands-on mobile application coding, design, and architecture environment. This role requires leading by example to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery. Success in this role demands deep expertise in Android development and strong leadership skills. The primary responsibility is to serve as Technical Lead on the MySynchrony team, leading Android development for one of our Feature Teams. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead a development team through all phases of the Agile development cycle
  • Define and communicate technical details for features based on business needs
  • Manage and mentor a team of software developers
  • Implement new technologies and facilitate migration to these technologies
  • Develop applications using Jetpack Compose and Kotlin
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including UX designers, product managers, and architects
  • Mentor team members and influence technical decisions
  • Ensure adherence to architecture, security, and technology standards
  • Contribute to the future architectural strategy and roadmap
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and lead sprint activities
  • Maintain high code quality through development, testing, and QA processes
  • Address root causes of issues, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents
  • Analyze production defects and implement fixes
  • Stay updated on the latest technologies and open-source projects
  • Provide periodic 24x7 on-call support
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance and efficiency
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for software development and integration
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of application development experience
  • At least 3 years of Android application development experience with object-oriented design patterns

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience building and consuming RESTful web services
  • 4+ years of Android development experience
  • Experience with libraries like Coroutines and Jetpack Compose
  • Experience with CI/CD environments
  • Proficiency in writing unit, integration, and UI tests
  • Knowledge of the mobile industry trends
  • Excellent communication skills, both technical and non-technical
  • Strong team collaboration skills across a matrix organization
  • Experience with financial/banking applications
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve system issues
  • Familiarity with SwiftUI, Swift, UIKit, and iOS ecosystem is a plus

Additional Details: The salary range is $110,000 - $185,000 annually, with potential bonuses. Compensation varies based on experience, skills, and location. The role is full-time, with options for remote work or office presence as needed.
