AVP, Principal Mobile Software Development Engineer

Role Summary/Purpose:

The Assistant Vice President, Senior Android Engineer, thrives in a hands-on mobile application coding, design, and architecture environment. This role requires leading by example to ensure timely delivery of projects to specifications. Deep expertise in Android development and leadership abilities are essential. The primary responsibility is as a Technical Lead on the MySynchrony team, guiding Android development for one of our Feature Teams. This role also involves collaboration within the renowned Innovation Station of Synchrony Financial, a hub of innovation and thought leadership. Responsibilities:

• Lead a development team through all phases of the Agile development cycle
• Define and detail features based on business needs
• Manage and mentor a team of developers
• Implement new technologies and assist in migration efforts
• Develop applications using Jetpack Compose and Kotlin
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including UX designers, product managers, and architects
• Mentor team members and influence project direction
• Ensure adherence to architecture, security, and technology standards
• Contribute to architectural strategy and roadmap
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and lead sprint activities
• Maintain code quality through testing and QA processes
• Address root cause analyses and incident reports
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement fixes
• Stay updated with latest technologies and open-source projects
• Provide periodic 24x7 on-call support
• Identify and implement system performance improvements
• Coordinate with third-party vendors for software development and integration
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• Minimum 4 years of application development experience
• At least 3 years of Android application development experience with OOP patterns

Desired Skills:

• Experience with REST web services
• Over 4 years of Android development
• Proficiency with libraries like Coroutines and Jetpack Compose
• Experience with CI environments and testing frameworks
• Knowledge of the mobile industry and financial applications
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Familiarity with SwiftUI, Swift, UIKit, and iOS ecosystem

Additional Details:

Grade/Level: 11

Salary Range: $110,000 - $185,000 USD annually, with potential bonuses and market adjustments based on location and experience.
