Ascot Group is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Inland Marine to drive profitable growth with brokers and expand retail distribution. The role requires strong underwriting expertise, business acumen, and leadership within a collaborative Marine team. Location flexibility includes multiple U.S.

cities with travel up to 30%. Base pay ranges from $180,000 to $200,000 with potential bonus and comprehensive benefits; ideal for an experienced underwriter eager to lead a high-performing portfolio

Qualifications

• A minimum of 8 years of experience underwriting Inland Marine insurance products.
• Ability to interact with all levels of customers and collaborate with underwriters, claims, and loss control.
• Proven marketing and negotiation skills.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
• Highly collaborative.
• Ability to travel up to 30% for broker meetings, insured visits, marketing initiatives, and industry events.
• Bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite Inland Marine within the appetite developed by the team.
• Select risks, evaluate program structure, services, and pricing for profitability.
• Develop and maintain relationships to grow retail broker distribution.
• Develop and deepen broker and agent relationships through engagement and marketing.
• Review engineering information to assess risk quality and initiate loss prevention actions.
• Adhere to CAT guidelines and underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and price appropriately.
• Manage portfolio to achieve gross written premium, profitability, and portfolio goals.
• Evaluate reinsurance requirements and implement actions.
• Communicate across disciplines to achieve success.
• Share underwriting expertise with underwriters at all levels.
• Commit to The Ascot Way and foster engagement, collaboration, inclusivity, and accountability.
