We are seeking an executive level AVP, HRBP - Academic Enterprise for our Wake Forest University School of Medicine. The AVP, HR Business Partner, Academic Enterprise supports Wake Forest University School of Medicine, the academic core of Advocate Health, located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. As one of the largest academic medical centers in the region, the School of Medicine is renowned for its research, education, and patient care. This onsite role aligns HR strategies with business objectives, acting as a trusted advisor to leadership.

The AVP, HRBP - Academic Enterprise works closely with business units, driving change by anticipating human capital needs, developing solutions, and fostering partnerships to deliver results.

Must have academia experience for this role

Who You Are:

  • Responsible for ensuring HR collaboration across Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Advocate Health.
  • High-level experience in HR or healthcare with HR responsibility.
  • Strategic leader and experienced consultant.
  • Maintains a complex client portfolio, including multiple programs or lines of business.
  • Seen as part of the executive team for their line of business.
  • Leads and is accountable for strategic projects and initiatives.

What You'll Do:

  • Advise senior leaders, providing guidance and strategic direction.
  • Work with leaders to influence and lead change to improve talent performance.
  • Maintain knowledge of organizational goals, culture, and competition.
  • Consult on human capital programs, workforce productivity, organizational design, talent management, retention, and diversity.
  • Guide organizational structures, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  • Identify and manage talent risks.
  • Build trusting relationships using data, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Analyze data to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Ensure legal compliance in HR practices.
  • Consult on compensation, salary planning, and promotions.
  • Provide performance management guidance.
  • Support employee engagement and improve work relationships.
  • Act as a change agent, proactively communicating HR needs.
  • Identify training needs and participate in program evaluation.
  • Participate in labor-management committees and collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence.

Education, Experience and Certifications:

Competencies:

  • Business literacy, finance, and operations acumen.
  • Healthcare trends awareness.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Self-directed with good time management.
  • Knowledge of HR concepts, employee relations, workforce management, and performance systems.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and conflict management skills.

Qualifications:

  • Masters' degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of business experience with progressive responsibilities, including 5 years in leadership.
  • Preferred experience in an academic learning health system.
  • Experience working with senior executives in an advisory role.
  • Knowledge of compensation, organization development, change management, employee relations, diversity.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects.
  • Knowledge of change management methodologies.
  • PHR, SPHR preferred.
