Job summary

Lincoln Financial is seeking an AVP of Financial Reporting within the FAO team to lead regulatory reporting for registered mutual funds and drive departmental strategy. You will oversee a team delivering complex financial reporting, ensure accuracy and compliance, and partner with Investor Relations, Legal and auditors to support disclosures and filings.

The role requires 10+ years in financial reporting/fund accounting and leadership, with CPA preferred.

Qualifications

  • Open-end and closed-end mutual funds regulatory reporting experience.
  • Experience with AICPA Audit and Accounting guidance, Reg S-X, N-1A and N-2 disclosures.
  • Experience with third‑party administrator and independent auditors.
  • Experience preparing board materials and interacting with Mutual Fund Boards.
  • Budget analysis and allocation methodologies for mutual funds.
  • 3+ years of managerial or leadership experience with senior stakeholders.
  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

The Role at a Glance

The AVP Financial Reporting role within the Fund Administration and Operations Team (FAO) provides leadership, direction and functional expertise to ensure departmental results for Lincoln’s Registered Mutual Funds. They will also contribute to the development of Financial Reporting departmental strategy and ensure that key information is delivered in a clear, concise and actionable way.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Responsible for strategy development and execution for regulatory reporting processes including second level review of financial statements for both open-ended and closed-ended mutual funds in addition to supporting Investor Relations, Legal and other departments with earnings releases, Proxy statements and other relevant documents.
  • Provides leadership to a team that provides highly complex financial reporting for management.
  • Provides leadership and direction on complex financial reporting activities and processes, including directing the development of sufficient, accurate and reliable complex information to support data driven decision making
  • Oversee and develop financial reporting policies and procedures.
  • Advises and provides subject matter expertise to management and applicable stakeholders on key financial reporting information and identified trends for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.
  • Directs the highly complex analysis and validation of financial reporting to ensure information is sufficient, compliant, accurate and reliable.
  • Identifies, recommends and implements opportunities to make the highly complex financial reporting processes more efficient and achieve balance of timeliness and precision.
  • Directs and/or participates in departmental or enterprise wide complex projects assigned by providing stakeholders with actionable and valuable complex financial reporting information to enable decision-making that results in successful outcomes.
  • Develops and/or manages budget/expenses for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Identifies and directs strategic process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to team members and internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.
  • Directs, establishes and implements priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure departmental results for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Directs and evaluates departmental performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides strategic leadership and direction to continually improve the capability and results for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Directs/executes approved strategy decisions and contributes to strategy creation for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
What We’re Looking For
  • 10+ Years of experience in Financial Reporting and/or Fund Accounting that aligns with the regulatory requirements of both open-end and closed-end funds
  • Experience with AICPA Audit and Accounting uide, Reg S-X, N1-A and N-2 disclosure requirements
  • Experience working with a third‑party administrator and independent audit firms
  • Experience with preparing board materials and interaction with Mutual Fund Boards
  • Experience with Mutual Fund budgets including analysis of budget assumptions and various allocation methodologies
  • 3+ Years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience including influencing senior management/critical stakeholders experience
  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) (Minimum Required)
  • CPA license is preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Co‑Pilot or Claude is encouraged
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement process improvements.
  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative style.
  • Demonstrates strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time‑sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
  • Finds common ground and can gain collaboration among senior management, colleagues and peers; can influence outcomes without directing or commanding.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

The pay range for this position is $127,500 - $232,300 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long‑term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
