Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is searching for an AVP‑level Corporate Actuary for a full‑time assignment with one of our premier insurance clients in the Boston, MA office.
Position Overview
A leading U.S. life and annuity insurance platform is seeking an AVP‑level Corporate Actuary (Cash Flow Testing, Life & Annuity) to join its Appointed Actuary team. This role will play a critical part in the quarterly execution, analysis, and governance of statutory Cash Flow Testing (CFT) and C3P1 capital results across multiple insurance entities. It is a highly visible role partnering closely with Investments, Risk, Finance, Modeling, and Technology. The role is best suited for a technically strong statutory actuary who enjoys owning production processes, challenging model outputs, improving governance frameworks, and partnering closely with Investments and Risk. It is not a pure modeling build role – it is a production, oversight, governance, and cross‑functional leadership role within the Appointed Actuary structure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support quarterly statutory Cash Flow Testing (CFT) and C3P1 capital production.
- Own and enhance the end‑to‑end CFT process, including data validation, model execution, results review, attribution analysis, and management reporting.
- Strengthen governance, documentation, and internal controls related to CFT production.
- Partner with Actuarial Modeling and Production teams to maintain and enhance models for CFT and C3P1 use.
- Collaborate with Investments and Risk teams to ensure asset assumptions and ALM strategies are appropriately reflected in projections.
- Perform independent review and challenge of model outputs to ensure reasonableness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and support year‑end statutory filings related to Cash Flow Testing in accordance with Actuarial Guidelines, the Valuation Manual, and ASOP requirements.
- Support internal and external audits and respond to regulatory inquiries.
- Drive process improvement and automation initiatives, including reporting and visualization enhancements.
- Present key results and insights to actuarial leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance, or related discipline.
- FSA or near‑FSA preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in life and/or annuity insurance.
- Strong experience with U.S. statutory framework and Cash Flow Testing requirements.
- Experience with MG‑ALFA or other actuarial projection/valuation software preferred.
- Exposure to asset modeling and ALM concepts preferred.
- Experience with databases and/or data visualization tools (PowerBI or similar) a plus.
- Strong technical depth with ability to analyze complex actuarial calculations.
- Experience with annuity products strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated project leadership or people leadership experience a plus.
- Strong communication skills with ability to work cross‑functionally.
- Ownership mindset, self‑starter, and comfortable operating in a highly collaborative environment.
