Allianz Commercial is seeking an AVP, Contract Surety Manager to market and underwrite the Surety portfolio in the East Region of the United States. You will nurture broker relationships, expand the portfolio profitably, and mentor junior underwriters in alignment with Allianz Trade standards.

The role requires a strong track record in surety underwriting, knowledge of U.S. markets, and an entrepreneurial drive to achieve growth while embracing AI technologies in daily processes.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of industry experience in surety underwriting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. surety market and local brokers.
• Entrepreneurial skill set to establish and achieve goals with brokers.
• Proven track record developing business with brokers.
• 4-year college degree in business, economics, or finance.
• Interest in learning and integrating AI into daily business processes (GenAI, Copilot, ChatGPT).

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and grow a profitable Surety portfolio.
• Maintain and expand broker relationships in the East Region (Baltimore, Boston, PA, NJ, NY, NC).
• Document decisions and recommendations clearly and consistently.
• Underwrite in line with Allianz Trade guidelines and portfolio management.
• Collaborate with teams across the Americas and internationally.
• Attend industry groups and local surety events as requested.

Job description

Job Purpose

Responsible and accountable for the marketing and underwriting of the assigned Surety portfolio within the East Region for the Allianz Trade North America Surety Team. The AVP, Contract Surety Manager is responsible for maintaining existing broker relationships, recommending new broker relationships, effectively marketing Surety's capabilities, underwriting profitable business in the US and assisting in mentoring, training and developing junior underwriters.

Key Responsibilities

• Working with their Regional Surety Manager, executing on the established strategic business plan in order to maintain and expand Allianz Trade's Surety business in the United States within the East Region (Baltimore, Boston, Pennsylvia, New Jersey, New York and/or North Carolina) .
• Developing and underwriting a profitable portfolio of Surety business through active engagement in the Surety marketplace with existing and new broker relationships in the local market.
• Documenting of all decisions and recommendations in a consistent and transparent manner.
• Conducting account and portfolio underwriting activities in a manner consistent with underwriting guidelines and portfolio management requirements established by Allianz Trade
• Collaborating with colleagues across the Americas and internationally in order to fully leverage surety capabilities and existing customer base.
• Attending industry groups and local surety events, as requested by the Regional Manager

Key Experience

• Proven ability to underwrite and grow a Surety portfolio.
• Strong relationships with local brokers.
• Recognized expertise in the underwriting of surety accounts and risks.
• Proven track record of successful underwriting result

Key Requirements

• At least 7 plusyears industry experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in surety in the U.S. in your local market.
• Entrepreneurial skill set to establish and achieve goals and objectives.
• Established track record developing business with brokers.
• 4-year college degree with emphasis in business, economics, or finance.

Total Compensation Range:

$195,000-$210,000

Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual's relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary ranges are only one component of our total compensation package.
