Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a strategic business plan to grow a profitable Commercial Surety book within a defined region.
• Build, maintain, and expand relationships with key agents, brokers, and other partners.
• Identify new business opportunities and drive profitable growth across the territory.
• Underwrite and manage mid-size account-based Commercial Surety business.
• Evaluate complex commercial surety risks with underwriting judgment and financial analysis.
• Maintain profitability objectives and support long-term regional growth goals.
• Partner with senior leadership on larger opportunities and market development.
• Help establish the organization as a preferred commercial surety partner in the region.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address underwriting questions and service needs.

Polikov Recruitment specializes in the Surety Bond and Commercial P&C industry. We are working with a growing specialty carrier that is continuing to invest in the buildout of its Commercial Surety platform.

This is an opportunity for a proven Commercial Surety professional to come in, build a defined region around their existing broker relationships, drive new business, and help shape the long-term growth strategy for the territory.

Our client is looking for an entrepreneurial Commercial Surety leader who enjoys production, relationship-building, underwriting, and market development. The organization is open to building the footprint around the right person’s existing relationships, which creates flexibility around geography for someone who has a strong network and knows how to create profitable commercial surety opportunities.

This person will have direct access to senior surety leadership, a streamlined decision-making process, and the authority and independence needed to grow the book and region the right way.

• Over time, help develop, supervise, and guide underwriting and support staff as the book and region expand

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• 10+ years of Commercial Surety underwriting experience preferred
• Strong background handling mid-size account-based Commercial Surety business
• Proven ability to generate new business and build profitable broker relationships
• Existing broker relationships in a territory that can support regional growth
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to help build something
• Strong technical underwriting expertise and knowledge of commercial surety products, bond forms, financial risk assessment, and account structures
• Willingness to travel as needed to build relationships and grow the territory

Remote candidates may also be considered if they bring the right Commercial Surety background, broker relationships, and ability to drive profitable growth.
