The Details:

The AVP, Casualty Claims, reporting to the Vice President of Casualty Claims, will be a foundational member of our growing Claims organization. As the first internal hire dedicated to direct claim handling, you will play a dual role: leading oversight of third-party administrator (TPA) performance and directly managing new claims from first notice through final resolution. This includes reviewing claim notices, conducting intake interviews with insureds and brokers, and executing full lifecycle claim management across coverage evaluation, liability and damages assessment, reserving, resolution strategy, reinsurance coordination and reporting.

You will also partner cross-functionally with departments such as Reinsurance, Marketing, Risk Management, Finance and Actuarial to ensure a high standard of claim service, data accuracy, and strategic insight. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends execution with influence, helping shape the future of our internal claims capability.

What will you do:

  • Manage claims from first notice of loss through resolution, including coverage analysis, liability and damages evaluation, reserve setting, litigation management, and resolution strategy.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for new casualty claim notices, document review, and interviews with insureds and brokers.
  • Analyze and draft coverage letters while effectively communicating coverage positions to insureds, brokers, and agents.
  • Lead investigations to determine compensability, liability, and damages by gathering information, documenting statements, and working with experts or other parties as necessary.
  • Drive claim resolution by collaborating with internal and external partners to develop and execute strategies, manage reserves, negotiate settlements, and oversee litigation.
  • Prepare and present complex information to senior leadership, customers, counsel, and others, including developing summaries and coordinating resolution strategies.
  • Maintain expertise and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements by staying current on laws, regulations, and trends; represent the company in industry groups as needed.
  • Mentor and train less experienced Claim Professionals; assist with special projects.
  • Participate in and lead audits of TPA partners.
  • Coordinate reinsurance reporting and analysis, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
  • Travel as required to represent the Claims function externally, including broker meetings, mediations, or settlement conferences.
