Job summary

Archer Aviation, based in San Jose, CA, is seeking an experienced engineer to design and wire electrical harnesses for all‑electric, vertical takeoff airframes. You will create CAD wiring diagrams, specify components, and collaborate with avionics and mechanical teams to ensure robust EMI grounding and system integration.

Qualified candidates have 3+ years of aircraft wiring experience, proficiency with Mentor Graphics Capital, HarnessXC, and Logic, and a hands-on approach to fabrication,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in aircraft wiring engineering and design.
  • Experience using Mentor Graphics Capital, HarnessXC and Logic.
  • Hands-on experience fabricating, installing, and inspecting harnesses.
  • Effective communicator across electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Create wiring diagrams and harness drawings using Mentor Graphics Capital, Logic and HarnessXC.
  • Implement communication protocols (ARINC, CAN, Ethernet, Serial).
  • Follow industry guidelines for wiring harness design and installation (AC 43.13-1B, AS50881, ASTM F2639).
  • Collaborate with avionics, power plant and electrical engineering teams to define system architecture and grounding/EMI.
  • Generate wiring harness designs for lab testing (tap ins, relays, data logging, switches, power supplies).
  • Select components to suit design requirements using standard parts knowledge.
  • Maintain and expand electrical component libraries within CAD tools.
  • Assist in lab bring-up, testing, and rework instructions as needed.
  • Apply configuration and change management to wiring designs within the aircraft framework.
