Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking an experienced avionics test engineer to drive requirements, design, analysis, testing, and reviews for spaceflight avionics assemblies as part of the TeraWave program. You will lead test campaigns from concept through qualification and flight support, collaborating with Systems, Production, and Design engineers.

The ideal candidate has hands-on electrical test experience, RF equipment familiarity, and a proven ability to lead teams under schedule pressure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience electrical test, avionics integration and test, or vehicle electrical systems verification.
  • Demonstrated experience leading electrical test campaigns with flight hardware.
  • Hands-on with electrical test equipment: power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators.
  • RF test equipment experience: signal generators, spectrum analyzers, attenuators.
  • Experience in specifying and building out electrical ground support equipment.
  • Experience developing and executing test procedures from system-level specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the avionics electrical test hardware, test plan, and verification cross-reference matrix for a spaceflight avionics component.
  • Derive electrical test requirements from system specifications, ICD’s, schematics, and safety requirements.
  • Specify and design avionics test equipment to meet manufacturing rate.
  • Coordinate cross functionally with Systems Engineers, Production Engineers, and Design Engineers to define interface test requirements.
  • Own hardware test procedure development, review, and approval workflows from initial draft through qualification and acceptance.
  • Lead bench-level, vehicle level and pre-launch electrical test campaigns including power-on, functional verification, end to end harness continuity and EMI/EMC testing.
  • Lead anomaly investigation and resolution for electrical test discrepancies; drive root cause analysis and corrective action through closure.
  • Partner with manufacturing and production engineering early in the design cycle to ensure test infrastructures integrates seamlessly with production flow, tooling, and vehicle build sequence.
  • Identify and drive test automation, instrumentation, and data acquisition infrastructure to reduce overall cycle time.
  • Design electrical test interfaces for producibility, including standardized GSE connectors, modular test racks, etc., to support rate increases without redesign.
  • Drive a production mindset into the electrical test program; track unit-to-unit test time, first pass yield, anomaly rate, as indicators of production readiness.
