Job summary

Aerotek is seeking an experienced DHC-8 Avionics Technician to support maintenance before aircraft auction. This contract assignment offers potential for long-term work on related programs.

Responsibilities include wiring, testing, calibration, and in-flight support, with duties spanning from inspection to supervision as needed. On-site work at Patrick Space Force Base, FL, with a schedule of Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm.

Qualifications

  • Experience with DHC-8 (Dash 8) or Q400 aircraft electronics installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Knowledge of avionics systems and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to work from blueprint drawings, diagrams, specifications, service manuals, sketches, templates, and other incomplete data.

  • Inspect avionics components for defects and ensure proper assembly and installation.
  • Test avionics equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions using test equipment.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace defective components based on test results using hand tools.
  • Calibrate installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.
  • Accompany flight crew to perform in-flight adjustments and record post-flight repairs.
  • Comply with inspections such as 91.411 and 91.413.
  • Operate the ground station for air-to-station checks.
  • Fabricate wiring harnesses.
  • Comply with avionics upgrades and modifications.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities per policies and laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Job Title: DHC-8 Avionics Technician

We are seeking an experienced Avionics Technician Level 3 to support the drawdown of the DHC-8 program by handling necessary maintenance before the aircraft goes to auction. This is a contract assignment with the potential for long term employment on this or other programs with our client.

Pay Rate / Benefits Breakdown:

Straight Time Pay: $38.39 an hour

Overtime Pay: $57.59 an hour

Fringe Pay: $5.09 an hour (guaranteed 40 hours per week regardless of hours worked)

Per Diem Pay: $800.00 a week (guaranteed every week regardless of hours work)

Holiday Pay: 11-Paid Holidays

Sick Pay: Sick Pay accrual starting Day 1, eligible for us immediately

PTO: Up to 2 Weeks, accrual starts Day 1, eligible for us after 1 year

Responsibilities
  • Inspect components of avionics equipment for defects, such as loose connections and frayed wires, and ensure accuracy of assembly and installation.

  • Test avionics equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness, using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital meters and counters, and circuit analyzers.

  • Adjust, repair, or replace defective components based on analysis of test results, following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents, using hand tools.

  • Calibrate installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.

  • Accompany flight crew to perform in-flight adjustments and determine and record required post‑flight repair work.

  • Comply with required maintenance such as 91.411 and 91.413 inspections.

  • Operate the ground station for air‑to‑station checks of radar or other equipment.

  • Fabricate wiring harnesses.

  • Comply with avionics upgrades and modifications.

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization policies and applicable laws.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with DHC-8 (Dash 8) or Q400 aircraft electronics installation, troubleshooting, and repair.

  • Knowledge of avionics systems and troubleshooting techniques.

  • Ability to work from blueprint drawings, diagrams, specifications, service manuals, sketches, templates, and other incomplete data.

  • Experience in Aircraft Phase Maintenance / Aircraft Heavy Maintenance Required

  • Active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain one.

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.48 – $43.48/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
