Job summary

Intuitive Machines is seeking an experienced Avionics Systems Cable Design Engineer to contribute to our Lunar program. You will collaborate with Avionics Design Engineers and System Integrators to evolve harness diagrams and design harnesses for lunar landers and satellites.

Responsibilities include selecting harness components, coordinating routing, and driving design reviews while collaborating with suppliers and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • 1–3 years hands-on experience with cables and avionics hardware.
  • Enthusiastic and capable in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Capable of running design reviews and reporting issues to the Avionics team.
  • Positive, enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Design harness diagrams based on the top-level harness diagram.
  • Select all harness components (connectors, backshells, wire, etc.).
  • Coordinate with manufacturing technicians and quality engineers on cable design improvements.
  • Coordinate cable routing and channelization changes with the avionics team.
  • Work with suppliers to determine best design practices and components.
  • Lead and coordinate design reviews.

About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Avionics Systems Cable Design Engineer to join our Lunar program. In this role you will work with Avionics Design Engineers and System Integrators to help evolve the overall system interconnect harness diagram as well as design the individual harnesses for the different systems, including lunar landers and satellites.

Responsibilities
  • Work with Avionics Design Engineers and System Integrators to design harness diagrams, based on the top level harnessing diagram.
  • Responsible for selecting all harness components, including connectors, backshells, wire, etc.
  • Work with manufacturing technicians and quality engineers to identify improvements to the cable designs.
  • Interact with the avionics team and to coordinate cable routing and channelization changes.
  • Work with suppliers to determine the best design practices and components selection.
  • Lead and coordinate design reviews.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering or other engineering discipline.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience working hands-on with various types of cables and avionics hardware.
  • Enthusiastic and comfortable in a fast-paced, quickly changing, challenging environment.
  • Capable of running design reviews and finding and reporting issues to Avionics team as required.
  • Positive, enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of aerospace harnessing suppliers and components.
  • Familiar with, or experience in working to NASA JPR 8500.4 Engineering Drawing System Manual.
  • Familiar with, or experience in working to NASA-STD-8739.4 (Requirements for fabricating Cables, Harnesses, and Wiring)
  • Experience with power systems on aircraft or spacecraft
  • Experience with mechanical systems
