Job summary

Fairwinds Technologies, LLC in Oklahoma City, OK seeks a seasoned Safety Engineer with avionics and military aircraft integration expertise to lead system safety for the E-767 AWACS RSU upgrade. You will ensure compliance with airworthiness, safety, environmental, and cybersecurity requirements across design, integration, testing, certification, and fielding phases.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (aerospace, systems, electrical, avionics, safety, or related)
9+ years of System Safety Engineering experience
5+ years supporting military aircraft or avionics programs
Experience with airworthiness certification efforts and DoD acquisition environment
Ability to conduct safety analyses for aircraft modifications and mission systems

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain Aircraft System Safety Program per MIL-STD-882E
Lead System Hazard Analyses (SHA), SSHA, FHA, PHA, and FMECA
Identify and track safety risks through development, integration, test, and fielding
Prepare and deliver SSHAR and System Safety documentation
Support airworthiness basis documentation and certification reviews
Review designs, drawings, and test procedures for safety compliance
Support RM&T analyses and reliability predictions per MIL guidelines
Participate in design reviews and risk boards
