Job summary

Fairwinds Technologies, LLC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical and structural integration for the AWACS RSU modernization program. The role focuses on avionics installation, system upgrades, and cross-functional collaboration with government customers and Boeing.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in military aircraft modifications, structural analysis, airworthiness certification, and aircraft system testing within aerospace or defense programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (ABET preferred).
• 9+ years in aerospace/defense engineering with avionics integration.
• Experience with AWACS, ISR or large aircraft mission systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and aircraft integration for avionics upgrades.
• Participate in systems requirements reviews and design reviews.
• Develop engineering drawings, CAD models, installation packages, and documentation.
• Support airworthiness qualification activities and certification efforts.
• Collaborate with government customers, Boeing, subcontractors and cross-functional teams.
• Provide on-site engineering support during aircraft modification and installation.
