Job summary

Relativity Space is seeking an Avionics Mechanical Engineer for Terran R to own the design, analysis, development, and delivery of electro-mechanical systems integral to avionics hardware. This role demands hands-on work across enclosures, interfaces, and thermal management to ensure flight readiness.

You will use CAD and validation tools in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with propulsion, software, and manufacturing teams to bring Terran R from concept to flight-ready hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years in mechanical design, packaging, and thermal management for aerospace or ruggedized electronics.
• Proven ability to deliver mechanical systems from concept through qualification and flight.
• Proficiency with CAD and analysis tools for structural and thermal performance.
• Hands-on experience building, testing, and debugging hardware in a lab environment.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, analysis, development, and delivery of electro mechanical systems supporting Terran R Avionics (enclosures, electrical interfaces, thermal accommodations).
• Ensure avionics can survive launch/space environments and solve thermal/structural challenges in mass-efficient packaging.
• Hands-on role: iterate designs from first principles, perform analysis and testing, drive delivery of flight-ready avionics.
