Qualifications

• Graduating in Fall 2027 or Spring 2028.
• Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Physics.
• Proficiency in tools for PCB design, circuit design and simulation.
• 3+ months’ experience applying technical skills outside the classroom (lab, research, personal projects, internships, or teams).
• Ability to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic professional setting.
• GPA of 3.0 or above preferred; spring interns may pause or adjust academic commitments.

Responsibilities

• Interns will contribute to spacecraft avionics and testing from design through test and validation.
• This includes designing and simulating circuits, laying out PCBs and bringing boards up for one of our spacecrafts (Leo Aries, Geo Aries, Nova and Comet).
• Learn about radiation environments and spacecraft subsystems.

Spacecraft represent the most pressing unmet need across the entire aerospace industry. As more launch vehicles come online and the cost to orbit decreases, more companies launching payloads to space continue to emerge.

For the first time in history, this influx of payload companies combined with reduced launch costs has resulted in a massive increase in need for commercial spacecraft platforms, known as satellite buses. These buses hold the payloads of our customers and are flown on launch vehicles.

About the Role

We are seeking talented engineers to work closely with the broader engineering team for an exciting internship opportunity. This person is passionate about engineering, ready to take ownership over complex challenges, and a strong desire to learn about all things satellites.

During the 12-week internship program at Apex, you'll gain hands‑on experience and professional growth opportunities. You’ll be assigned a project to give you the opportunity to have real impact. Throughout the project you'll have a dedicated mentor to guide you, while participating in learning sessions to elevate your knowledge of aerospace. Plus, you'll connect with peers and industry professionals during our community events, making this a well-rounded experience to launch your career!

Avionics Team: Interns will contribute to spacecraft avionics and testing, from design through test and validation. This includes designing and simulating circuits, laying out PCBs and bringing boards up for one our spacecrafts (Leo Aries, Geo Aries ,Nova and Comet), learning about radiation environments and spacecraft subsystems.
Requirements:

• Graduating in the Fall of 2027 or in the Spring of 2028

• Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Physics

• Proficiency in tools for PCB design, circuit design and simulation

• 3+ months’ experience of application of technical skills outside of the classroom: laboratory, research, personal projects or prior internship/work experience or project teams (rocketry, FSAE, CubeSat, etc.)

• Ability to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment

• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic professional setting.

• GPA of 3.0 or above preferred
  Note: Spring interns should be available to pause or adjust academic commitments (such as taking a semester off or enrolling part-time) for the duration of the program
