Job summary

Hermeus invites student engineers to join a small, fast-moving team building avionics and flight software for a new flight vehicle program. You will develop simulation and HITL infrastructure on real hardware and contribute to end-to-end testing.

The role focuses on developing simulation and HITL infrastructure, with C++, Python, and MATLAB, and hands-on hardware work, including schematics, pinouts, and bench tools. You will own tasks from setup to testing and troubleshoot as you go.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, CS, or related field.
• Working proficiency in C++.
• Strong understanding of physics and dynamics fundamentals including rigid-body dynamics.
• Hands-on with hardware reading schematics and pinouts; cable work.
• Proficient with bench tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply).
• Comfortable using Linux command-line.
• Demonstrated ability to work on multidisciplinary technical teams.
• GPA 3.0 or above.

Responsibilities

• Develop a 6-DOF flight simulation with dynamics and models for verifying flight software in closed loop.
• Support HITL testing, integrating flight computers, avionics, sensors, actuators, and cables.
• Write simulation and test software primarily in C++, with Python and MATLAB for modeling and tooling.
• Troubleshoot and integrate hardware using schematics, pinouts, connectors, and bench tools.
• Build tooling to make simulation and HITL fast, repeatable, data-rich via logging, playback, and automation.
• Independently own simulation and integration tasks from setup through testing.
