Job description

Avionics/Electrical Technician II - 2nd shift in GAC Savannah

Unique Skills:

Must be able to work 2nd shift.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED required. Four (4) years experience in an avionics/electrical career field, or two (2) years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics and two (2) years related experience. A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) license preferred. Other FCC, NCATT certifications preferred.

Position Purpose: Provides technical expertise in testing aircraft systems, troubleshooting, and repairing system discrepancies to ensure minimal schedule impact. Implements process changes to reduce costs and meet schedules without compromising safety or quality. May fill in for the Senior Avionics/Electrical Technician to ensure safety and quality standards are maintained while adhering to work plans.

Job Description:

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrates technical skills in avionics and aircraft systems testing and troubleshooting.
  2. Performs installation and functional testing of electrical/avionics components per specifications, ensuring defect-free systems.
  3. Ensures quality and efficiency of installations; troubleshoots to provide timely repairs.
  4. Repairs or replaces defective components and wiring, demonstrating effective repair techniques.
  5. Implements engineering changes and modifications as required.
  6. Sets up and operates test equipment; conducts functional and operational tests.
  7. Documents all work performed for inspection readiness.
  8. Tests and maintains test equipment and electronic systems.
  9. Follows safety regulations and company programs (FOD, tool control, 5-S).
  10. Adapts to schedule changes.

Additional Functions:

  1. Supports aircraft certification and final testing, including flight tests as required.

Other Requirements:

  1. Proficiency in troubleshooting other aircraft systems such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controls, or structural repairs.
  2. Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Physical ability to climb stairs/ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds.
