Job summary

Garmin is seeking a Design Certification Engineer 1 - Core at its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. The role leads project engineering teams through certification and development activities for avionics products, ensuring compliance with aviation standards and federal regulations.

You will coordinate schedules, generate safety analyses, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex engineering problems while driving process improvements and regulatory updates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer Science, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
• Knowledge of basic circuits (Digital, FPGA, Analog, RF).
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Draft and submit certification documentation per regulatory standards (TSOs, etc).
• Lead project engineering teams to ensure compliance with certification requirements.
• Coordinate project schedules and deliverables per aviation processes.
• Perform unit level safety and security analyses and requirement generation.
• Coordinate technical compliance documentation and testing for standards (FCC, CE, ANATEL, RED, EAR).
• Contribute to design, validation, and verification of avionics projects.
• Organize and document test results in reports.
• Update processes for new regulations and safety improvements.
