Job summary

Parallax Space is seeking a Principal Avionics Engineer to architect and own our core avionics offerings for space vehicles. You will define a modular product line and lead the design from architecture through flight readiness.

You will guide EE and software interfaces, perform trade studies, and build a team while staying hands-on in lab work when needed. This role reports to Head of Engineering and requires U.S. security clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.
• 12+ years designing and delivering avionics or high-reliability electronics for space programs.
• Proven ability to architect avionics end-to-end from requirements to flight.
• Deep experience with flight computing and C&DH interfaces.
• Hands-on schematic design, PCB development, derating, and debugging.
• Knowledge of space environments and radiation effects.

Responsibilities

• Architect core avionics offerings and product line.
• Define avionics architecture including flight computers, C&DH, power, networking.
• Lead trade studies balancing performance, size, weight, power, cost.
• Own avionics roadmap and maturation plan.
• Lead design of analog, digital, power electronics for flight hardware.
• Guide EE/software interface and radiation effects analysis.
