Qualifications

• Associates degree or 60 college credit hours; pass parapro test required.
• Ability to tutor reading, English and math; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process student tutorial requests to determine groupings
• Work independently with student groups, under the direction of the classroom teacher, to facilitate high-level Socratic style group tutorial sessions
• Help students present, ask, and answer questions to reach understanding
• Assist students in thinking through conceptual understanding
• Provide positive reinforcement for academic growth
• Recordkeeping to provide accurate retrieval of data for the AVID program
• Collaborate with teachers to assess tutorial effectiveness
• Participate in district AVID training
• Maintain regular and on-time attendance
