Work Schedule

  • Prior to employment, all candidates must pass a District 6 background check at the expense of the district
JOB DESCRIPTION (Summary/Objective)
  • Tutoring/Intern opportunities exist at the Family Center, elementary, middle, and high schools in District 6. Applicants must be willing to work within a variety of content areas with small groups of students under the supervision of a certified teacher in a classroom during the regular school day. Tutors/Interns serve as guides and facilitators of students' learning through questioning, writing, thinking, and discussing. Tutors/Interns may work a minimum of one hour per week, or multiple hours, depending on the tutor's availability.
Essential Functions
  • Maintain consistent schedule throughout the semester with the school(s)
  • Provide a positive and encouraging environment for scheduled students
  • Maintain an accurate and honest timesheet
  • Follow requirements for documenting tutor information for students
Additional Qualifications
  • Applicants should have organizational and record keeping skills, excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills, and the ability to manage time and meet obligations with minimal supervision. Applicants must maintain confidentiality and perform all functions of the position. Students with eligible work-study grants are encouraged to apply. Successful college students bring a sufficient level of expertise to the positions. The best qualification is caring about making a difference in the lives of students and the community.

Work Environment / Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time, numerous distractions, visual, auditory and ambulatory acuity important. Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.
