Job summary

Illinois School District U-46 is seeking a part-time AVID Tutor at South Elgin High School to provide leadership, coordination, and support for the AVID program, aimed at raising student achievement and enhancing their learning experience.

Under supervision of the AVID teachers, you will facilitate tutorials, assist students with notes and binders, and support writing and study skills. You may help organize AVID events and parent nights while performing other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Support AVID strategies with small groups to boost academic success.
• Facilitate tutorials and assist students with class notes and binders.
• Lead small collaborative learning groups.
• Evaluate student binders, planners, and notes.
• Assist in writing processes (brainstorming, drafting, revision, editing).
• Serve as a positive role model encouraging college attendance.
• Help facilitate AVID events (college visits, events, parent nights).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
