Job summary

Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area seeks a full-time Aviation Test Hardware Design Engineer 1 to design and develop basic test hardware for factory testing under supervision.

You will collaborate with design, software and test teams to define test requirements, create circuits, perform basic PCB layout and troubleshoot test hardware, enabling reliable Garmin product validation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Computer Engineering (BSCE) or equivalent
  • GPA 3.0 or higher (as general rule)
  • Basic knowledge of test equipment and software tools for electronics design, testing and documentation
  • Familiarity with general EE troubleshooting tools (e.g., oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer)
  • Strong verbal and written communication, team oriented and self-starter

Responsibilities

  • Define test requirements with Design, Software and Test Engineers.
  • Design test circuits and document hardware tests to meet standards.
  • Perform basic schematic design and PCB layout.
  • Troubleshoot and debug test circuits/systems.
  • Develop test boards and modify circuits for thorough testing.
  • Document test results and report status to mentor.
