Job summary

Peraton is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager - SME to lead high-visibility technology initiatives within the FAA BNATCS contract. This on-site role in Herndon, VA requires strong leadership of software teams, risk management, and cross-functional coordination to deliver secure, compliant solutions that modernize the National Airspace System.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• 12 years experience demonstrated success managing technical teams of Software Development professionals.
• Hands-on experience in software development.
• Ability to lead geographically dispersed, cross-functional programs.
• Hands-on experience with risk identification, mitigation, and issue resolution.
• Strong stakeholder management skills briefing senior leadership.
• Proven ability to manage project scope, schedules and budgets using structured project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid).
• Ability to conduct technical reviews, validation activities, and post-implementation assessments.
• Demonstrated experience conducting employee performance reviews and establishing performance objectives.
• Demonstrated workforce planning, resource allocation and workload-management experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day performance and priorities of Software Development teams.
• Own the full lifecycle of network, cyber or testing projects from concept through deployment.
• Provide workforce forecasting, employee retention, succession planning, and talent development.
• Translate complex requirements into executable plans, schedules, and budgets using Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies.
• Align technical delivery with FAA modernization goals and program priorities.
• Support requirements analysis, readiness reviews, and operational transitions.
• Drive projects to successful completion while meeting FAA standards, cost targets, and delivery commitments.
• Translate complex customer and technical requirements into executable work plans.
• Track project progress against milestones, KPIs, contractual requirements, and customer expectations.
• Manage day-to-day performance of employees and coordinate with vendors and program leaders.
