Essential Functions
Aviation Security Officers are trained for several different posts including those detailed below. Working in conjunction with the airport and government agencies, the main priority is to maintain compliance with local and federal regulations.
- Aircraft Access Control: assure that only authorized personnel enter the aircraft while on the ground.
- Aircraft Ramp Access Control: provide AOA access control & safety oversight while aircraft is on the ground.
- Aircraft Search: meticulously search all areas of the aircraft according to company and federal regulations to ensure the safety of travelers’ pre‑departure.
- Baggage Security: surveil bag room & baggage make up area to ensure no baggage is stolen or pilfered.
- Catering Security: provide surveillance at the catering kitchen, search all catering equipment, and ensure that nothing is tampered with in transit from the facilities to aircraft.
- Passenger Verification: provide exemplary customer service in airport terminal while making sure that all passengers have valid identification and are authorized to board flights.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have a valid State Security License (advice provided to sign‑up for training to obtain a license).
- Must obtain Airport Badging and meet Department of Homeland Security 10‑year verifiable background check requirements, including criminal, employment, credit, education, and personal references.
- Must pass a Security Threat Assessment as administered by the Transportation Security Administration.
- Upon hire, must provide proof of legal right to work in the United States.
- Ability to effectively speak, write, and understand the English language.
- Must be able to pass all initial and recurrent training classes and exams as administered by Global Security and Airport Authority.
- Must have access to reliable transportation.
- Work independently and make sound decisions based upon limited information.
- Retain detailed information from post orders, briefings, and communications to effectively maintain security at assigned locations.
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather.
