Job summary

Aerostar Airport Holdings, LLC is seeking an Aircraft Rescue Firefighter to respond to aircraft emergencies, structural fires, and vehicle accidents at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport. Analyze situations and choose actions to protect lives, property, and assets while complying with the Airport Emergency Plan.

Responsibilities include fire suppression, rescue operations, hazardous materials response, vehicle and equipment readiness, and first aid as a responder.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and specialized firefighter certifications.
  • Aircraft Rescue Firefighter Certification.
  • Firefighter I and II State Certification.
  • Specialized Aircraft Operations Training.
  • HAZMAT.
  • First Responder 40 hours / Emergency Medical Responder 40 hours.
  • FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700, 800.
  • Driver License 5-III (8).
  • Two (2) years of experience on an organized fire department or branch.

Responsibilities

  • Protect lives and property of visitors, passengers, property owners and personnel at the airport.
  • Perform fire suppression, property conservation, salvage, overhaul, forcible entry, ventilation, ladder operations and use of cutting saws and tools.
  • Respond to emergency incidents including firefighting, fuel spill control, rapid intervention, technical rescue and HAZMAT.
  • Drive fire apparatus, operate pumps, tools/equipment and water crafts.
  • Conduct routine checks, tests and inspections of department apparatus and equipment.
  • Administer First Aid acting as first responder on medical events.
  • Respond to incidents per Emergency Plan and assume command if needed.
  • Assist with recordkeeping and administrative duties at incidents.
  • Perform fire safety inspections and issue Hot Work permits.
  • Dispatch emergency calls and coordinate resources; monitor weather and radio traffic.
  • Operate dispatch radio communications and emergency alert system.
  • Flush and test fire hydrants.
  • Participate in scene security and maintain chain-of-custody at incidents.
  • Execute other duties assigned by Supervisor.
