Joby Aviation seeks a Quality Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for quality in manufacturing, design controls, nonconformance, risk management, data analytics, and product improvement.

The role requires a strong background in quality engineering and people leadership, with emphasis on manufacturing controls and cross-functional collaboration to ensure the highest product quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; advanced degrees preferred or years of experience in lieu.
• Minimum 8 years in quality engineering or related technical field for the senior level.
• Minimum 3 years of direct people management experience.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing controls across mechanical, electrical, and composite systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Quality Engineers to drive quality processes and project execution.
• Collaborate with Quality Leadership to align with short- and long-term goals.
• Identify issues early and coordinate timely escalation and resolution.
• Partner with Quality Control, Supplier Quality, Metrology and QA teams.
• Lead MRB activities and ensure robust corrective actions.
• Support NPI to capture PFMEA and Control Plans requirements.
• Plan operations with multi-functional teams to maintain production support.
• Provide documentation and records for Quality review and approvals.
• Foster a culture of quality and communicate the rationale and methods to the team.
• Set goals for Quality personnel and oversee recruitment, training, and development.
