Job summary

AECOM seeks an Aviations Project Engineer to lead airfield design from concept through construction on major airport projects. You will manage multidisciplinary teams, ensure adherence to FAA requirements, and oversee delivery across planning, design, and construction phases.

You will coordinate with clients and subconsultants, translate complex data into buildable designs, and mentor junior staff while maintaining schedule and budget constraints.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or related field and 10 years of airport/airfield planning or civil engineering design experience or equivalency.

Responsibilities

• Lead airfield design from concept through final construction documents.
• Direct multidisciplinary teams to deliver engineering packages for paving, grading, drainage, utilities, lighting, and signage.
• Develop and seal construction drawings in alignment with FAA Advisory Circulars.
• Coordinate design input across planners, contractors, clients, and subconsultants.
• Translate survey, geotechnical, utility data into actionable design.
• Integrate FAA design and safety criteria, airport operations constraints, and funding guidelines.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff across multiple active project sites.
• Ensure design quality, phasing feasibility, and on-time delivery.
• Support stakeholder coordination with FAA, state agencies, airport sponsors, and permitting authorities
