Job summary

GWHS in Danville, Virginia is seeking an Aviation Teacher to lead the Aircraft Pilot Training program within our CTE offerings. You will instruct students across Pilot-Ground and Air Traffic Control domains, using hands-on approaches to develop practical skills and safety awareness.

The role requires maintaining up-to-date aviation knowledge, delivering well-structured lessons, and collaborating with staff to align with district standards.

Qualifications

• Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license and possess a current pilot’s license.
• Bachelor's or Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in aviation technology and instruction.
• Experience with aviation technology instruction is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach all phases of aviation technology, including Pilot-Ground and Air Traffic Control to students.
• Instruct students on the proper care, handling, and use of aviation technology equipment.
• Develop lesson plans and adapt instruction to diverse student needs.
• Create a welcoming and engaging learning environment and communicate student progress to stakeholders.
• Coordinate and oversee Work-Based Learning experiences and CTE advisory activities.
