Job summary

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an NDI Technician in Kinston, NC to apply advanced ultrasonic testing and other NDI techniques to ensure materials and components meet strict aviation quality standards.

Qualified candidates will have NAS 410 certification, UT Level I/II, extensive UT experience, and documented on-the-job UT hours. The role includes oversight, documentation, and potential Level III responsibilities in a demanding aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a related discipline plus 3 years of related experience.
• NAS 410 certification.
• Ultrasonic Testing Level I certification.
• Minimum of 40 hours of formal UT Level I training.
• Ultrasonic Testing Level II certification.
• Minimum of 40 hours of formal UT Level II training.
• Proof of 800+ hours of Ultrasonic Testing on-the-job training (OJT).
• Demonstrated hands-on ultrasonic testing experience.
• Experience with UT methods such as Phased array, Pulse-echo, Shear wave, Through transmission.
• Ability to set up and standardize NDI equipment.
• Ability to interpret and evaluate inspection results for acceptance or rejection.
• Ability to accurately document inspection findings and non-conformances.

Responsibilities

• Perform Non-Destructive Inspection to evaluate materials and components without causing damage.
• Utilize ultrasonic testing techniques, including phased array, pulse-echo, shear wave, and through-transmission methods.
• Set up, standardize, and operate NDI equipment in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Process and inspect parts, interpret results, and determine acceptance or rejection.
• Verify that parts and processes comply with customer engineering requirements.
• Accurately document inspection findings and results.
• Establish inspection techniques using approved procedures and work instructions for final approval.
• Conduct system performance checks in accordance with applicable process standards.
• Identify non-conformances and initiate appropriate documentation according to established specifications, processes, and procedures.
• Perform audit surveillance of non-destructive inspection processes.
• Provide technical guidance and supervision to trainees as appropriate.
• Depending on certification and job level, NDI methods may also include liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, thermography, shearography, eddy current, and radiography.
• For Level III responsibilities, interpret codes, standards, specifications, and contractual documents governing NDT methods.
• Assume technical responsibility for NDT facilities, equipment, and personnel.
• Prepare, verify, and approve procedures and work instructions for technical adequacy.
• Provide training, examinations, and certification support for personnel.
• Oversee NDI processes and ensure non-conformances are appropriately identified and documented.
