Job summary

Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) in Virginia seeks an Aviation Maintenance Technology Instructional Assistant to support up to three AMT laboratory courses, assist faculty, supervise hands-on sessions, and ensure safe operations. You will collaborate with the AMT Program Manager on curriculum development, engage with aviation industry partners, and assist with student recruitment and program marketing.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of aircraft systems and equipment, including diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and industry partners.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage departmental workflow.
  • Proficiency with word processing, email, and internet resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction, supervision, and support for up to three AMT lab courses each semester.
  • Assist faculty with course content and instructional modules.
  • Supervise and facilitate hands-on laboratory learning experiences.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the AMT Program Manager on curriculum development and improvement.
  • Represent the program in interactions with aviation industry stakeholders and partners.
  • Support student recruitment, outreach, retention, and program marketing efforts.
  • Perform additional duties related to the AMT program as assigned.

BRCC is seeking an Aviation Maintenance Technology Instructional Assistant to:

  • Provide instruction, supervision, and support for up to three Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) laboratory courses during the fall, spring, and summer semesters, as needed.
  • Assist faculty with the delivery of designated course content and instructional modules.
  • Supervise and facilitate hands-on laboratory learning experiences.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards, procedures, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the AMT Program Manager on curriculum development, revision, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a representative of the program in interactions with aviation industry stakeholders, community partners, and external organizations.
  • Support student recruitment, outreach, retention, and program marketing efforts.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities related to the Aviation Maintenance Technology program as assigned or required.

KSA's/Required Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all aircraft systems and equipment, including diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of people, including faculty, staff, current and prospective students, and employers within the college service region
  • Ability to organize and set appropriate priorities for the timely accomplishment of departmental tasks
  • Computer literacy in word processing software; familiarity with the use of electronic mail, web-based resources, and the use of the Internet for educational purposes
  • Demonstrated understanding of teaching strategies, especially those related to adult learners
  • Valid driver’s license, full background check and driving record check are all required
Additional Considerations:
  • Relevant education, experience, and/or training
  • Relevant certifications, such as Federal Aviation Administration Certificate as a Mechanic with both Airframe and Powerplant ratings
