What you'll do

The Maintenance Technician supports Viasat's customers at various airports by performing maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and returning the Viasat Broadband System onboard aircraft to service. The role requires adherence to company and airline manuals, with a focus on commercial aircraft systems, especially electrical and avionics troubleshooting and testing. This position involves complex assignments requiring judgment, initiative, and technical expertise to resolve problems and develop solutions.

The day-to-day
  1. Collaborate with Viasat's Customer Support Center (CSC) and Airline Planning.
  2. Perform maintenance and preventative maintenance in compliance with all regulations.
  3. Work primarily at San Francisco Airport, with occasional travel to other airports such as LAX, DEN, EWR, IAH, ORD, and others, often on short notice.
  4. Assist in diagnostics checks on Viasat systems onboard aircraft.
  5. Provide training on Viasat systems to maintenance vendors and airline personnel.
  6. Ensure tooling and equipment are available and current.
  7. Assist in developing improved maintenance procedures.
  8. Mentor others to ensure thorough knowledge of Viasat systems.
  9. Provide feedback to vendors and airline partners for continuous improvement.
  10. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including field calls.
What you'll need
  1. Experience assisting with aircraft line maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  2. Accurate documentation of maintenance work.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Proven ability to meet deadlines and exceed customer expectations.
  5. Fluency in English.
  6. Shift differentials for 2nd and 3rd shifts.
  7. Flexible hours, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
  8. Participation in drug and alcohol testing as required by FAA.
  9. FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
  10. Ability to travel up to 50% domestically and occasionally internationally.
  11. Residency near San Francisco International Airport.

Salary range
