What you'll do

The primary function of the Maintenance Technician is to support Viasat’s customers at various airports while performing maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and returning systems to service onboard customer aircraft. This role ensures all work complies with company and airline manuals, requiring knowledge of commercial aircraft systems, particularly electrical and avionics troubleshooting and testing. Expect to handle complex assignments that require judgment, initiative, and technical expertise.


The day-to-day
  • Work collaboratively with Viasat’s Customer Support Center (CSC) and Airline Planning.
  • Perform maintenance and preventative maintenance in accordance with all regulations.
  • Work primarily at San Francisco Airport, with occasional assignments at other locations including LAX, DEN, SFO, EWR, IAH, ORD, often requiring urgent travel.
  • Assist in diagnostics on Viasat systems installed onboard aircraft.
  • Provide training on Viasat systems to maintenance vendors and airline personnel.
  • Ensure tooling and equipment are available and up to date.
  • Assist in developing improved maintenance procedures.
  • Mentor others to ensure thorough understanding of Viasat systems.
  • Provide feedback to vendors and airline partners for continuous improvement.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including field calls.
What you'll need
  • Experience assisting with aircraft maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Ability to document maintenance work accurately.
  • Strong communication skills to present technical information clearly.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and exceed expectations.
  • Fluent in English, verbal and written.
  • Shift differentials for 2nd and 3rd shifts; flexible hours, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Participation in drug-alcohol testing program; FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally on short notice.
  • Residence near San Francisco International Airport.

Salary range
