Job summary

Horizon Air offers a hands-on internship in Portland, OR, where students join a dynamic team and work on data management and Maintenance Quality Assurance projects. You will collect and analyze data, develop data collection tools, and support scheduling and audit research while networking with peers and leaders across Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air.

The internship runs for 12 weeks in summer 2027 and may require relocation to Portland.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautics, Maintenance Analytics, Aviation Safety, Human Factors or related field.
• Excellent communication and Microsoft Office Suite skills.
• Organized, detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, handle multiple tasks, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to set and meet deadlines.
• Must read, write, and understand English.
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with at least one semester or quarter remaining after the internship.
• Must have junior or higher academic standing at time of application.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum age of 18.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• The primary area of focus is data management and assist the Maintenance Quality Assurance department.
• Daily responsibilities include data collection, data analysis, data entry, and project development.
• Develop tools for data collection to simplify analytical processes.
• Assist in streamlining pre and post-audit scheduling to aid in risk assessment.
• Research into known or suspected Maintenance department concerns, assisting in creating presentations, aid in reviewing manuals, and conducting audit research.
• Additional duties may involve interaction with other departments inside and outside of Maintenance.
