Job summary

Danville Community College seeks a part-time Adjunct Instructor of Aviation Maintenance Technology to provide competency-based classroom and lab instruction aligned with Title 14 CFR Part 147 and FAA standards.

The role supports the AMT program as-needed, with assignments semester-by-semester based on enrollment and program needs. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential; familiarity with Canvas LMS is a plus.

Qualifications

• AAS in Aviation Maintenance Technology from an accredited institution.
• FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings (A&P).
• At least two years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of aircraft maintenance practices, FAA requirements, and lab safety procedures.
• Ability to teach and evaluate student performance using competency standards.
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, instructional technology, and a college LMS.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and work with students, faculty, staff, and industry partners.
• Commitment to teaching excellence and student success.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver AMT classroom and laboratory instruction.
• Supervise projects and ensure use of approved data, tools, and safe practices.
• Assess and document student knowledge and performance.
• Maintain attendance, grades, and competency records.
• Maintain a safe and orderly classroom and lab environment.
• Use the college LMS and other instructional technologies effectively.
• Communicate progress and needs with AMT Program Manager.
• Participate in orientation, training, and course coordination.
