Job summary

Southwest Airlines is seeking a GSE Technician in Houston to diagnose, repair, and maintain ground support equipment such as trucks, carts, and de-icing gear. This hands-on role requires sheet metal and fabrication skills and adherence to safety standards.

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, participate in ongoing training, and handle work orders in the maintenance system. Union-affiliated position with schedules that may include overtime and shift work.

Qualifications

• Must have 3 years heavy truck/equipment repair experience with a technical degree.
• Preferred: 5 years heavy truck/equipment repair experience in lieu of a technical degree.
• Must be able to read and follow manuals, procedures and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and repairs various types of automotive, ramp, provisioning, and deicing equipment used in the airline industry.
• Performs both preventative maintenance and unscheduled maintenance on all airline ground equipment.
• Attends initial and ongoing training and keeps current on knowledge and equipment.
• Create and track work orders in the maintenance tracking program.
• Must wear company ID badge visibly above the waist.
