Job summary

Pegasus Aviation Services, an Akima company, is seeking an Assistant GSE Manager to support the GSE Manager in overseeing maintenance for aviation ground support equipment at Alaska operations. You will supervise staff, perform preventive and on-demand maintenance, and help drive safety and efficiency on the ramp.

You will assist in budgeting, reporting, and coordinating with vendors while training team members and ensuring compliance with FAA ramp safety standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience maintaining aviation ground support equipment (GSE) required; prior GSE experience at TSAIA preferred.
• 18+, valid driver's license, U.S. citizenship or proof of right to work; high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3 years' experience maintaining aviation GSE or airport ramp equipment (belt loaders, tugs, GPUs, air start units, lavatory/water carts, deicers, etc.).
• Working knowledge of FAA ramp safety standards and airline/ground handling GSE compliance requirements.
• Willing to work airside/outdoors in all weather conditions; able to lift 60 lbs comfortably.
• Good communication skills; fluent English (read/write/speak/understand).
• Self-starter; able to work with moderate supervision in an AOA/ramp environment; able to work under pressure and tight time constraints.
• Available nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules.
• Background investigation (FBI fingerprints, criminal history, pre-employment drug test); must be eligible for airport-issued AOA/SIDA badge.

Responsibilities

• Assist the GSE Manager in managing daily GSE operations; act as lead in the GSE Manager's absence.
• Perform preventive and on-demand maintenance and repair on aviation GSE (motorized/non-motorized, gas/diesel).
• Help prepare reports and updates for senior management meetings.
• Train and mentor GSE staff on maintenance procedures and ramp safety standards.
• Assist in developing and managing the GSE budget.
• Help schedule GSE staff and review timesheets.
• Coordinate with GSE vendors to support parts and service needs.
• Help maintain a safe, compliant work area.
• Support staff development and training initiatives.
• Flag equipment/technology improvement opportunities to the GSE Manager; support preventive/predictive maintenance program improvements.
• Foster a supportive, team-oriented environment across GSE and internal departments; support internal and external customers with quality service.
• Use equipment tracking/trending systems to proactively flag reliability issues.
• Other duties as assigned by the GSE Manager or Director of GSE
