Job summary

KLJ in Kalispell, MT seeks an experienced aviation engineer to provide technical guidance for due diligence, investigations, remediation, permitting, and construction of airport facilities and related infrastructure. You will generate accurate reports and contribute to design standards for safety, functionality, and compliance.

The role supports cross-functional teams on projects involving landside and airside facilities, with focus on quality control, cost estimation, and regulatory adherence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 4+ years of relevant post-education experience in engineering, aviation design.
  • Professional Engineer License required.
  • Knowledge of FAA advisory circulars and procedures (FAARFIELD, COMFAA, OE/AAA).
  • Experience with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, compile, and analyze data from the site, surveys, GIS data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
  • Perform aviation engineering work and assist with investigations and observations of site conditions to ensure compliance with permits and standards.
  • Incorporate advanced modeling, design requirements, and operating strategies to ensure safety and functionality for end-users and vehicles.
  • Collaborate with engineers, planners, and professionals to guide construction and ensure conformity with permits and specifications.
  • Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on environmental, drainage, and pavement issues.
  • Prepare data visualizations and reports for interpretation of findings.
  • Maintain quality control and accurate measurements, analysis, and reporting.
  • Assist in development and scoping of small-to-medium projects.
  • Contribute to technical reports and presentations to address design/construction issues.
  • Conduct engineering studies and surveys to plan for future needs.
  • Assist in HASP development and implementation.
  • Work with airport authorities on Federally, State, and local funded projects.
  • Exercise ethical decision-making regarding funds and resources, adhering to KLJ policies.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.
