AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Construction Management Intern for Summer 2027 in Denver, CO. You will act as Owner's Representative for roadway projects and observe contractor work, performing QA and recording daily logs.

The role requires pursuing a civil engineering or construction management degree with 60 hours completed, and offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to major projects.

Qualifications

  • Must have completed 60 hours toward a civil engineering or construction management degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship.
  • No experience is generally required if accepted into an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in a related technical field.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions; valid driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Owner's Representative for roadway-related projects and observe QA activities.
  • Observe contractor work and perform quality assurance during construction.
  • Record daily diaries, payment reports and other contract-required documentation.
  • Coordinate with field lead/project manager and owner on tasks.
  • Contribute to internal quality control checks and review designs and drawings.
  • Follow safety protocols onsite per contract documents and client policies.

Job description

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Construction Management Intern – Summer 2027 to join our Denver, CO office.

Your Role
  • Act as Owner's Representative for State, Federal, or local clients, where most projects are roadway-related – asphalt and concrete paving, bridges, guard rail, traffic signals, etc.
  • Under supervision, observe the work of contractors involved in the construction of projects and perform quality assurance (QA) activities.
  • Perform non-manual field work that involves applying acquired knowledge and experience to observe moderately complex construction contracts and related activities.
  • Coordinate with field lead / internal project manager and/or owner on assigned tasks.
  • Record and document construction activities in accordance with contract requirements, such as daily diaries, daily payment reports during progress of work, and others as assigned.
  • Participate in internal quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.
  • Follow all applicable safety protocols while onsite, including requirements established by contract documents, client standards, and internal policies.
About You
  • EDUCATION:
    • Must have completed 60 hours towards a civil engineering or construction management degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship (Summer 2027).
  • EXPERIENCE:
    • No experience is generally required if accepted into an Associate'S or Bachelor's degree program in a related technical field.
  • SPECIAL SKILLS:
    • Ability to walk long distances, climb ladders, stoop, squat and crawl to inspect work; ability to observe construction activities and distinguish colors; and ability to perceive back-up alarms and other warnings.
    • Must be able to work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions, subject to insects, flooded terrain, equipment/traffic, and other hazards.
    • Position may require nonstandard work shifts, such as long hours, weekends, or nights as per client and/or manager's direction.
    • Position may require driving a vehicle to a jobsite daily with mileage reimbursement. Incumbent must have valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company policy.

Additional Information

Expected compensation range is between $25 - $31 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
