Job summary

FlightSafety International, based in Urbana, IL, seeks an engineer to apply mechanical and electrical principles to assemble, test, and modify machinery and equipment. You will read dials, analyze performance, and work with engineers to resolve developmental problems.

The role requires an Associate’s degree and up to 1 year of experience, with opportunities to operate test equipment and ensure quality across projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Associate’s degree from college/tech school (2 yr).
  • Less than 1 year of experience in related role preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude is required.
  • Proficiency with measurement tools and test equipment is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Read dials and meters to determine amperage, voltage, electrical output and input at specific operating temperature to analyze parts performance.
  • Assemble, install, integrate, calibrate, test, debug, and repair electronic and electrical assembly systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles, using hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and record results.
  • Maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical instruments or testing equipment.
  • Review existing electrical engineering documents and criteria to identify necessary revisions, deletions, or amendments to outdated material.
  • Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers and other personnel to identify, define, and solve developmental problems.
  • Conduct inspections for quality control and assurance programs, reporting findings, and recommendations.
  • Analyze and interpret test information to resolve design-related problems.
  • Meet or exceed standard job times.
