Job summary

HDR is seeking an Aviation Design EIT/Coordinator in Denver to contribute to aviation-related designs, studies and reports. You will work with FAA guidance, AVI-Plan software, and AutoCAD Civil 3D, supporting HDR’s field of airfield development.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil Engineering degree and an EIT certificate, with strong teamwork and MS Office skills to collaborate across disciplines and communities involved in transportation projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • Interest or experience in designing general aviation airfields is expected.
  • Basic use of AutoCAD Civil 3D (or similar) and introduction to AVI-Plan.
  • Microsoft Office experience and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarize with FAA Orders, Advisory Circulars, UFC requirements, local agency rules.
  • Be aware of at least one specialty element (pavement, drainage, lighting, signage).
  • Participate in HDR Airfield Design Community of Practice.
  • Assist with design elements, studies and reports under direction.
  • Maintain project records and SharePoint files.
  • Support marketing and keep an updated resume; perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Aviation Design EIT/Coordinator, we’ll count on you to:

Technical Development

  • Be aware of FAA Orders and Advisory Circulars (AC), UFC requirements, local agency requirements, and client manuals
  • In addition to general FAA requirements, be informed of at least one specialty element (e.g., pavement, drainage, lighting, signage, etc.).
  • Technical Talent Identification & Career Journey:
  • Be involved with the HDR Airfield Design Community of Practice (CoP)
  • Process & Tool Application & Development:
  • Basic use of AutoCAD Civil 3D (or similar design software) and introduction to AVI-Plan software packages
  • With direction, prepare elements of aviation related designs, studies and/or reports
  • Compile project records / maintain SharePoint sites, project files, etc.
  • Marketing Support
  • Maintain an updated resume.
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
  • Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Interest or experience designing general aviation, commercial service and/or Military airfields.
  • Basic use of AutoCAD Civil 3D (or similar design software) and introduction to AVI-Plan software packages

  • Must be able to work in a team environment
